Itchy Scratchy Head Lice

With kids starting school, most parents concern is their kid bringing home Flu & Cold Viruses. We are constantly teaching our kids to wash their hands, cover their mouths, don't share food & drinks. Let's not forget about the ever dreaded Head Lice!
Not only are Head Lice treatable, but they can also be prevented! While on a beauty supply run last spring, I came across Fairy Tales Hair Care for kids! It's an All Natural, Organic line & they have anything you would need from Shampoo, Conditioner & Styling products to treatment kits & even Bed Bug mattress spray! Check out the Facts of Lice Brochure on their website.
I'm pretty sure I have my kids deathly afraid of these little pests, but nobody is safe! I feel 100% comfortable & safe using this product on my kids. There are also home remedies on preventing Head Lice such as keeping Tea Tree Oil in a spray bottle with water or adding it to your child's daily shampoo & conditioner.

As much as we tell our kids to SHARE SHARE SHARE at home, I'm constantly telling my own kids DON'T SHARE:

  • Jackets & "Hoodies"
  • brushes & Combs
  • Hats & Scarves
  • Headbands & Hair bows

Get Ready for Summer!

Wow, I haven't posted in a long while. I have been busy on Facebook though! Summer has arrived, what are you doing to protect your skin & hair at the beach & pool? Are you sporting a bright new hairstyle? What about your fingers & toes? Can't forget makeup! One of my favorite things about a summer tan is less really is more when you're sporting a fresh tan or freckly face. I can't wait to share my favorites with you! Last month a very special Facebook fan won an Alterna Bamboo Smooth Travel Set.

Hot Hot Hot, Ruby Red or Cranberry?

Hot Hot Hot, Ruby Red or Cranberry, you decide!
Another fall trend year after year that will never go out of style is becoming a Redhead. So a friend requested Bryce Dallas Howard's locks. We discussed her doing at home vs. having it done professionally. I convinced her it would last longer & she'd have a better result using professional color. Convincing wasn't hard to do when doing something so drastic.

Here's what we came up with:

This is where a professional photographer would have came in handy. Cell phone pictures really don't do the color justice, and the overcast outside didn't help. In person, the color is absolutely gorgeous! I made this "cheat sheet" for color application. The formulas I can't take complete credit for, I tweaked one provided by BTC. If you borrow my cheat sheet, please give credit where credit is due & link back to my blog.

Next, I applied Gloss of Redken Shades EQ 1 1/2 oz. 07C + 1/2 oz. 07CB + 2 oz. + Processing Solution for 20 minutes. This gloss ties formula A & B together, while sealing the cuticle & will help her new red hair last longer.

Doing your hair at home vs. having it done professionally.
Doing your own color at home pro- well the only pro is really the price.
Why is it better to have our hair done by a professional colorist?
- A colorist is trained in formulating color, rarely is a stylist throwing on a solid color, there's always a little bit of this & a little bit of that going in your color bowl.
- A colorist is trained in applying a variety of techniques to best show off colors in different hair textures and cuts.
- Professional hair color lasts much longer that a box color you can find in drugstores, we can control the amount of ammonia going into your hair.
-A guarantee, if you mess up your color at home, odds are you're going to come into a salon to have it fixed. A color correction always costs more than if you one have just got it done by a professional the first time.
- Last but certainly not least, no mess to clean up & more pampering!

Fall Back with Ombré

You feel that cool breeze this morning? Having the itch to switch up your hair color? Yep, that's fall just around the corner. The 'new' style this season is Ombré. What is this Ombré you speak of? Well according to The Hair Color Gods & well www.yourdictionary.com it's the "shaded or graduated in tone: said of a color". Key word GRADUATED. That is the difference between ombré & simply needing a root touch up!

Blonde with Ombre-

Blonde with Roots-

Ombré = Gradual
Keep it in the family, now is not the time to play with contrasting colors.

Definitely Do-
Please, i'm begging you DON'T-

Afraid to take the Ombré Plunge? Peek-a-Boo highlights are a great alternative this fall. Start by darkening your base color & adding more vibrant highlights under your part & scattered throughout.
